Jalapeño Productions
Jalapeño Productions is dedicated to creating documentaries about
the human experience, especially those that impact or interface with the
environment. That’s because with each passing day our world becomes
more fragile and one of our goals is to discover ways to help it mend.
With that in mind Jalapeno Productions, has produced This is Alaska, a
compassionate exploration of the beauty of Alaska, fostering an imperative
to preserve her vast ecosystems; Green Fire: Lives of Commitment and Passion
in a Fragile World which aired on PBS' Environmental Weekly, and featured
ten women environmentalists who won the Environmental Award from the United
Nations Environment Program. The Baby Shower which explores the joys and
the traumas of pregnancy; Richard Nelson’s Alaska which transports
you into the mind and place where famous writer, activist, conservationist,
cultural anthropologist Richard Nelson lives in Sitka Alaska; and Dirt:
Keeping our Wild Places Wild, a half hour documentary on four ultra runners
and their desire to integrate their passion for running with their environmental
concerns. Running Madness continues this tradition of probing into how
we care for our world, this time with a bit of humor to lighten the load.
{Founded in 2000, Jalapeno Productions grew out of a need to reexamine
what is environmental and how each one of us can shape our own future,
the future of the planet and have a little fun while doing so.
Jalapeno Productions documentaries have been widely
recognized by film festivals. This Is Alaska and The Baby Shower won top
prizes at the Houston International Film Festival and the Flagstaff International
Film Festival; and the Hard Acre Film Festival, respectively. Running
Madness won Platinum Best of Show at the prestigious Aurora Award Competition
for Excellence in Film and Video as well as receiving high recognition
at the Ojai Film Festival, Woods Hole, Rome International Film Festival,
Hard Acre Film Festival and Hot Springs Documentary Film Institute this
fall. Richard Nelson’s Alaska appeared in the Artivist Film Festival
and is being considered for the PBS program Natural Heroes.
